Bounce Houses: Safety Information for Parents

Bounce House Safety Guide for Parents

  • Follow all the recommended guidelines for safe installation including anchoring. The bounce house should be situated away from any fences, greenhouses, branches, etc., which would be dangerous should a child fall onto them.
  • Consider limiting use to children of even age, height and weight.
  • Kids should remove footwear, eyeglasses, and jewelry before entering the unit.
  • Take any sharp objects (pens, keys) out of their pockets/hands before playing (they could easily cause puncture injuries).
  • Do not let children of significantly different sizes onto the bounce house at the same time. Smaller kids could be at risk of injury from colliding with or falling under an older child.
  • Do not allow adults and/or children who are larger than the height/weight that the bounce house is designed for.
  • Food, drink, bottles, glasses etc. should not be taken into the bounce house.
  • Supervision should be maintained all the time. If supervision cannot be maintained, the bounce house should be cleared out and deflated. Supervision means watching constantly and not just being in the area!
  • Children should be informed that they must not push other children inside the inflatable. Children should not be allowed to bounce against the walls and crash into one another –this can result in collision injuries.
  • Follow the advice given on the maximum number of children permitted at any one time and let them on and off in a controlled manner.
  • Children should not be allowed to climb onto the outside walls. Flips and rough play should also not be allowed.

Bounce house safety during inclement weather

Our company prides itself on safety of the children who enjoy our bounce houses. We have a number of policies that make our bounce houses safe, including our inclement weather policy, as follows:

Firehouse Bounce will make every effort to ensure that every delivery is made as agreed, however, Texas weather can be unpredictable and the safety of the attendees is the primary concern of Firehouse Bounce. Therefore, Firehouse Bounce will closely monitor the weather forecast for the agreed rental date. If the forecast calls for inclement weather, including but not limited to rain, lightning, hail, wind speeds exceeding the Unit’s manufacturer’s guidelines, (and/or 20 MPH) – or if it has recently rained and the unit(s) cannot be safely set up due to standing water or other inherent dangers, or if in the judgment of Firehouse Bounce the risk of proceeding with the event would prove to be unsafe, Firehouse Bounce reserves the right to cancel the event without prior notice. Firehouse Bounce will however make every effort to communicate the decision with the Lessee as soon as it is practical.
